RCCP letter to colleagues. Please read and contact your MP. It works as within an hour of me sending the letter to my MP he had signed the EDM. - Webmaster.

Dear  Registrant,

I am delighted to be  able to let you know that an Early Day Motion (EDM) has now been tabled  (number 997 - Regulation of Clinical Physiologists) and is available to see  online here http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=38089&SESSION=899.

An EDM is a motion  which is tabled in the House of Commons with a view to draw attention to a  specific campaign and to demonstrate the extent of parliamentary support for  such a campaign.

It is now therefore  vital for the RCCP’s continuing campaign for statutory regulation that  registrants get in touch with their MPs and ask them to add their name to the  motion. We want to ensure as many MPs as possible sign up to the motion to  demonstrate the strength of support for the implementation of regulation for  clinical physiology to the Minister. The RCCP has therefore drafted the email  below for you to send to your MP and we would be grateful if as many  registrants as possible could do so.

You can find your MP  here: http://www.upmystreet.com/commons/l/

You can use this  website to email your MP directly if you do not already have their details: http://www.writetothem.com/

Kind  regards,

Anne  Burge,
Chair  RCCP

Dear [insert MP’s name  here],

I am currently employed as a  [insert specialty here] and am based in your constituency.

As a clinical physiologist, I am  registered with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP), a  voluntary register for this area of the healthcare workforce. This group of  staff develops and delivers a wide range of diagnostic and often invasive  procedures directly to patients and work closely with medical staff and other  healthcare professionals to diagnose, treat, monitor and manage the care of  patients from birth to old age

Despite the Health Secretary  accepting the need to statutorily regulate clinical physiologists back in  2005, the fact that four years statutory regulation is still not in place, has  potentially huge implications on patients’ safety.

The RCCP has therefore mounted a  campaign for the urgent implementation of statutory regulation for the  clinical physiology workforce. To this end, an EDM has been tabled – 997  Regulation of Clinical Physiologists – and I would encourage you to sign this.  The RCCP is really keen to use the EDM to demonstrate the level of support for  statutory regulation to the Department of Health and as my MP, I would be  really grateful if you were able to consider adding your name. However, if you  are not able to sign the EDM at present, I would be grateful if you were able  to set out your reasons.   I have copied below the EDM for your  information.

I look forward to your  response.

Kind regards  etc.
