28/6/02. Error on RCCP E-Form

It has been brought to RCCP attention that there is a minor omission on the electronic forms that have been available on the RCCP website ( www.RCCP.co.uk).

On page 5 there was no designated space for you to sign the declaration, it was only indicated that you should print your name. The declaration does need to be signed so please make sure that you sign page 5 before submission.

This has now been amended on the copies that can be downloaded from the website now.

28/2/2002 SCST @ Cardiac 2002 Harrogate.

Details regarding the scientific meeting programme are on the website on the Scientific Meeting page. Registration details for the meeting will be included in your edition of SCST Update.

Details of the Cardiac Ball 2002 are now on this website. Please click on this link. As was the case last year sponsorship has enabled us to have top class entertainment, more details on the information page from the link.

If you are travelling by air to Leeds/Bradford airport note there is no direct public transport to Harrogate from the airport. Either taxi it to Harrogate (12mls approx) or taxi to Horsforth Station and train (every half hour) to Harrogate. Or if need to get the airport bus back to Leeds and then train from there.

If you require accommodation in Harrogate this can be organised through Expotel the BCS appointed agents on www.expotel.com and clicking on Exhibitions and then British Cardiac Society. The SCST does not have any different arrangements.
Since putting this detail on the website I have contacted Expotel who advise that only a few hotel rooms are still available as well as some Guest House rooms. Accomodation will have to be sourced some distance away from Harrogate. Expotel will be able to advise. If, however, you will be using public transport, perhaps consider Knaresborough, Central Leeds or York which are all on a direct train line. Some areas of north Leeds are about 10- 12 miles away.

Accomodation is now difficult in the Harrogate area. Have you thought that a mobile home or lodge hired for the period of the meeting may be an idea? Rudding Park is only 3 miles from the town and has high quality holiday accommodation. Contact 01423 870439 or www.ruddingpark.com
(The Society has no connection with this company and merely offers this as an idea for colleagues)

29/1/2002 New ETT guidelines published. These are now on the BCS website on the BCS publications page. (23/5/2002 - Have just checked the new BCS site and these guidelines do not appear - it will be taken up with the BCS as soon as possible - Webmaster)

Anybody working in clinical cardiac technology who may wish to join the Society but for personal reasons may not wish/be able to take the exams may consider applying for an APEL system. Details were out in February in Update and will cost £175. Details of the scheme are also published on the Membership page of the website.

Any member interested in becoming an examiner for the SCST exams, especially for ASCST Part I please let the Secretary know, her address is on the Education page.

Personal portfolios will be available to be purchased at the BCS meeting in Harrogate at a cost of £5.00. The previous free introductory offer is now closed.

ASCST syllabi are now available in Adobe Acrobat format from the reference page.

16/1/02 Note that on the Membership page links have been made to download membership and membership renewal forms in Adobe Acrobat V5 format. These can then be posted back to the Registrar. At present it is not possible to register on-line.

8/1/02 Link put back to NHS Careers. They have revised their information about Cardiac Physiologists.

11/12/01 The link to the explanations for RCCP has been put back from the old news page. The Webmaster hopes that this may help colleagues.
